Families, Kids & Teens

Time flies and before you know it your babies will have grown up and moved on to pastures new.  Before that happens I would like to help you to create unique timeless photographs of your family that you will treasure forever.  Why bother booking a Professional Photographer when you can take your own family photos?  Because it is so important for you to be included in your family images.  Your children will appreciate photos of you when they are older as much you appreciate photos of them when they are younger.  As your family portrait photographer I will provide you with a gallery of images that are a true reflection of your family as it is now.

Where?…

Your session will take place in the comfort of my new studio in the peaceful village of Great Hormead, near Buntingford, Hertfordshire.  The studio has been designed with your comfort in mind and there is plenty of secure parking available.  There is also the option to have some outdoor photographs taken at the end of your session, weather permitting.  Please advise when booking if you would be interested in outdoor portraits.

Booking…

As part of my booking process I will ask some questions about your family and your requirements.  Would you like a particular focus on images of the whole family as you are the one always behind the camera?  Would you prefer a session just for the children?    Do you want a mixture of both?  If your children are school age I do offer late afternoon sessions on a Thursday and occasional Saturday sessions.  These sessions are in high demand so please book early if you require your photographs for a particular date.  Family portrait sessions cost £75; Wall Art starts at £145 and Digital packages start at £325.

Timing…

The sessions are very relaxed and last about 1 hour, although this is a little flexible if we are on a roll!  I will take a few minutes at the beginning of the session to get to know everyone and get a feeling of how the session is going to flow.

What shall I wear?…

Please wear something that you are comfortable wearing and that you will be happy to have hanging on your wall for many years to come! Avoid logos, branding and strong patterns, they can be distracting and may look dated in a few years.  Pick a colour scheme for your family: blacks/darks, neutrals/pastels, bolds or denim. Try not to have one person dressed in a completely different style to everyone else unless you particularly want them to stand out. Bring a couple of changes of clothes for everyone to provide some variety for your family photographs.

Studio sessions are normally carried out in bare feet so if you wear nail varnish now is the time to put it on. Hands are also on show so please pay them a little TLC before the session.  With regards to hair & make up – play safe and stick with your normal style. Unless you are after a particular look this is probably not the time to experiment with new hairstyles or make up.

What to expect…

I normally start with family photographs and then move onto individual photos to give the younger members of the family time to settle in and relax.  However if the little ones  come in raring to go then I will gladly go with it and take their portraits while they are ready and willing.  We will always start the session in your preferred choice of outfits, then we will take a quick break for an outfit change and we will finish the session with the fun outfits/props.  I am happy to offer guidance on clothing choices either on the day or in the run up to your session.  Please just ask.
