I’ve been a bit slack with my post session blog posts since moving to the new studio so with the New Year comes a resolution to keep on top of them! The New Year started with a busy week of Newborn Photography Sessions, here is the first.
Wyatt was the first Newborn of 2019 and what a cutie he is! It was a fabulous 1st session of the year. Wyatt’s newborn session was booked in September which meant that he had the priority first session after the Christmas break. We also pencilled in the last session of 2018 as he was expected to be a little early, guess he was just too comfortable!
Being organised pays off and I highly recommend booking your newborn session in as early as possible, after your 20 week scan is ideal. Don’t worry, the session date isn’t set in stone. I keep a flexible diary and I will reschedule if the session isn’t suitable when baby arrives. However in order to run a flexible diary I have to limit the number of Newborn Photography Sessions I accept each month. Please book early to avoid disappointment!
As you can see Wyatt has an older brother & sister who are school age. I was away during the holidays so Wyatt’s session fell on their first day back to school. Rather than have them miss their first day we booked the family and sibling photos in after school later that week. If you have school age children please get in touch for a chat and we can work out a suitable arrangement to include them in the images. It might be possible for Dad to pop out and collect the older children to join us during their lunch break, if school isn’t too far away. That would give us enough time to do sibling and family images. Alternatively, if you aren’t local I am happy to do a 30 minute after school session with the older siblings. Not sure how to make it work? Give me a call and I will suggest an arrangement to suit your family.
This families arrangement worked really well resulting in a very peaceful Newborn Session, where Mum & Dad could fully concentrate on their newborn. And a bit more lively mini family session where the older children were very much the focus. Win, win all round.
Please don’t worry, little accidents are a typical part of Newborn sessions. It’s just what happens when you take a baby’s nappy off. All my props/ blankets and wraps are washable and are washed in non bio detergent after every use.
Sometimes someone bears the brunt of the “little accident”! I have been caught out whilst wrapping or posing babies on numerous occasions (I now keep a spare set of clothes at the studio!) and sometimes Mums and Dads get caught out. Well this time it was Dad’s turn! Unfortunately Dad got a handful during one of the Dad & Baby images and he handled it really well (pardon the pun!). I think there is something soothing about Dads’ big warm hands that encourage the baby’s to relax… I jumped in to help Dad out so I didn’t get an “out take” photo but it was pretty funny and luckily Dad thought so too.
Here are a few of the family’s favourite images from their Newborn Photography session:
